注:○方士:方術(shù)之士。《史記·封禪書》:“騶衍以陰陽主運顯于諸侯,而燕齊海上之方士傳其術(shù)不能通。”硁硁:《論語·子路》:“言必信,行必果,硁硁然小人哉!”此貌方士取信之態(tài)也。術(shù)士:言陰陽災(zāi)異之士。《漢書·夏侯勝傳》:“曩者地震北海、瑯邪,壞祖宗廟,朕甚懼焉。其與列侯、中二千石博問術(shù)士,有以應(yīng)變,補朕之闕,毋有所諱?!蹦踩?《理惑論》:“牟子常以五經(jīng)難之,道家術(shù)士,莫敢對焉?!薄鸫笏帲旱兰抑ひ病6鸥Α顿浝畎住吩姡骸翱喾Υ笏庂Y,山林跡如掃。”○宿草:隔年之草。《禮記·檀弓上》:“朋友之墓,有宿草而不哭焉?!笨追f達疏:“宿草,陳根也,草經(jīng)一年則根陳也,朋友相為哭一期,草根陳乃不哭也。”后常借指墳?zāi)?。○原文云:“圣哲之言今世他世也,盡虛廓談。一旦塵土掩其口,其言自敗,曾愚妄術(shù)士輩之不若也!”今用漢晉方士、術(shù)士故實譯之。○魏新河兄譯云:“天上人間迥不倫,例從圣哲問迷津。如今何故三緘口,霧鎖塵封語莫陳?!?br />Why, all the Saints and Sages who discuss'd Of the Two Worlds so wisely—they are thrust Like foolish Prophets forth; their Words to Scorn Are scatter'd, and their Mouths are stopt with Dust.
